Taiwan Pavilion Stamps

Taiwan issued a pair of commemorative postage stamps for Expo ‘74. The 1-yuan stamp shows a stylized depiction of the exterior of the Taiwan Pavilion, while the 8-yuan stamp shows the Taiwan flag superimposed on a map of Expo. These stamps were issued on October 10, 1974. Although the United States and the USSR issued their stamps before Expo, Taiwan issued their stamps afterward. This is presumably related to the fact that “Double Ten Day” (October 10th, or 10-10) is a significant national holiday in the Republic of China.
